British National Overseas (BNO Visa)
The British National (Overseas) route enables BN(O) status holders from Hong Kong and their eligible family members to live, work and study in the UK. Applicants can apply for an initial period of 30 months or 5 years and, subject to residence and suitability requirements, may apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain after 5 years’ continuous residence.
This route is available to BN(O) status holders and, where eligible, their partners and children. A separate “BN(O) Household Member” route may be available to adult children of BN(O) status holders (and their partners/children) where they form part of the same household.
Applications may be made from inside or outside the UK. English language is not required at the entry stage, though it is for settlement, and applicants should be able to maintain and accommodate themselves without recourse to public funds. TB testing and documentary evidence of residence and family relationships are typically required.
Angelov Solicitors advises on eligibility, evidence, and timing across both BN(O) Status Holder and BN(O) Household Member routes. We prepare and submit applications, manage dependants’ cases, and plan the pathway to settlement and citizenship.
