UK Student Visa Services - Study in the UK with Confidence
The UK remains a world-class study destination, but the immigration rules are technical and frequently updated. Angelov Solicitors provides solicitor-led support across Appendix Student, Appendix Child Student, Appendix Parent of a Child Student, and short-course options. We advise on evidence and timing so your application meets the Rules and the Home Office’s expectations.
Student Visa (Appendix Student)
For courses over 6 months at licensed sponsors (universities, colleges, independent schools). You will need a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies), to meet the financial requirement (tuition and living costs for the required period, held/verified in the correct format), and to satisfy English language at the level set for your course and sponsor.
Where applicable, we also address ATAS, TB testing, academic progression, and the “genuine student” assessment. Work permission depends on sponsor type and course level; we advise on the permitted hours and conditions so you remain compliant throughout your studies.
Child Student Visa (Appendix Child Student)
This visa is designed for children aged 4-17 to study at an independent fee-paying school, this route focuses on safeguarding and funding. The school issues a CAS, parents provide written consent, and the application must show appropriate care and accommodation (boarding or a compliant host arrangement) together with funds evidenced in the specified format. Children aged 16–17 may have limited work permission; children under 16 cannot work. This category does not allow the child to bring dependants; if day-to-day care in the UK is required for a child aged 4–11, one parent may be eligible to apply under the Parent of a Child Student route.
Parent of a Child Student Visa
This route allows one parent to live in the UK to care for a Child Student aged 4-11 who is enrolled at an independent school. It is a non-work category with no access to public funds and strict residence conditions: the parent must live with the child, maintain a principal home together in the UK during term time, and leave the UK (or move into another qualifying route) when the child turns 12 or the schooling ends. The other parent cannot accompany under this route, and wider family members are not included. Careful planning is needed to align visa validity with academic years and to evidence accommodation and maintenance without recourse to work.
Short Courses: Study as a Visitor or Short-term Student (English)
-
Visiting the UK to Study (Standard Visitor): for short courses up to 6 months at an accredited provider, or activities permitted under the Visitor Rules (e.g., exams, electives). No work, no public funds, no switching.
-
Short-term Student (English language): for English courses of 6–11 months. No dependants, no work, no extension or switching. We ensure your course, funding and accommodation evidence align with the chosen route.
Dependants: current position
Student dependants are restricted. In general, only government-sponsored students on courses over 6 months or postgraduate research students (RQF7+ research degrees, including PhD) can bring dependants. We confirm eligibility at the outset and plan family applications (including maintenance funds and timing) where permitted.
