20 Years Private Life

The 20-Year Private Life route offers a pathway to regularise a person’s immigration status if a person has lived in the UK continuously, whether lawfully or unlawfully, for at least 20 years.

Under paragraph 276ADE(1)(iii) of the Immigration Rules (and now Appendix Private Life), individuals who meet the residence requirement may apply for limited leave to remain based on their long residence and established private life in the UK.

This route does not grant immediate settlement, but it allows individuals to remain lawfully in the UK and, over a further period of 10 years of lawful continuous residence, they become eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain.

At Angelov Solicitors, we help clients prepare strong applications by evidencing continuous residence and demonstrating significant ties to life in the UK. If you have been in the UK for 20 years or more, we can advise you on your options under the private life route.
