Seasonal Worker Visa
The UK Seasonal Worker Visa, part of the Temporary Work route under the Immigration Rules, allows overseas workers to come to the UK for a short period to carry out specific types of seasonal employment.
Currently, this route primarily supports roles within the horticulture and poultry production sectors, such as fruit and vegetable picking, or poultry processing ahead of peak demand seasons. Applicants must be sponsored by an approved UK employer (also known as a Temporary Work Sponsor Licence holder) and meet the eligibility requirements, including having a valid Certificate of Sponsorship and evidence of sufficient maintenance funds.
This visa is designed to address short-term labour shortages and is strictly time-limited. Successful applicants can stay in the UK for up to six months for horticultural roles, or between 2 October and 31 December each year under the poultry production subcategory.
Importantly, the Seasonal Worker Visa does not lead to settlement in the UK and prohibits bringing family members as dependants. The visa conditions also prevent access to public funds and restrict employment to the sponsored job role only.
The application fee is £319. A decision is normally made within three weeks.
